Custom Swift Racevox Aero Build
Project Brief: Build a fast, lightweight aero race bike for veteran-category racing
Bike of Choice: Swift Racevox — Custom Build
The Challenge
Paul, a well-known local cyclist and experienced veteran racer, approached us ahead of the upcoming race season with a clear objective: create a bike that would give him every aerodynamic and performance advantage possible. He had a very precise idea of the geometry he needed to achieve an aggressive, race-focused riding position that would translate directly into speed during high-intensity racing and fast group rides.
Our Approach
We began by carrying out a full bike fit, taking into account the demands of veteran racing and Paul’s preference for an aerodynamic, low-front-end position. The setup included a 130mm stem and narrower handlebars to reduce frontal area for improved aero efficiency. To support both his racing posture and an ongoing injury, we selected shorter crank arms, helping him maintain effective pedalling mechanics even with the more aggressive fit.
Although Paul wasn’t working to a strict budget, he wanted maximum performance per pound spent. We opted for a premium mix of components, including an FSA carbon finishing kit and Shimano Ultegra Di2 12-speed for crisp shifting and reliability. To give Paul accurate performance data and improved power delivery, we upgraded to a carbon fibre crankset with dual-sided power meter integration.
For aerodynamic gains at race speed, we equipped the build with VeloElite Carbon RF50 wheels, offering the perfect balance of stiffness, low weight, and aero efficiency.
The Result
The final product — a custom-painted Swift Racevox — is a purpose-built aero race machine tailored specifically to Paul’s riding style, racing goals, and positional needs. With its aggressive geometry, carefully selected components, and aerodynamic enhancements, the bike is set to give Paul a competitive edge throughout the racing season.
Building this custom Swift Racevox was a rewarding project, and we’re proud to support Paul with a bike that reflects both his experience and his ambition.
